Aim and Intention

✨ Aim

The aim of the Hopewell Primary Curriculum is to develop well-rounded, emotionally aware, and intellectually curious learners who are equipped with both the foundational skills and higher-order thinking required to thrive in a changing world. The curriculum is designed to nurture the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally—through an engaging, thematic approach that aligns values, skills, and knowledge.

🌟 Intentions

  1. Value-Driven Learning: Each term is rooted in a clear set of values (e.g. self-regulation, kindness, responsibility) that promote emotional intelligence, social responsibility, and moral character. These values are not taught in isolation but embedded across all subjects and activities.
  2.
  3. Progressive Skill Building: The curriculum follows a developmental arc:
    1. Autumn – Foundational Skills(e.g. listening, empathy, respect)
    2. Spring – Social & Emotional Skills (e.g. communication, teamwork, resilience)
    3. Summer – Character & Independence(e.g. organisation, initiative, leadership)
    4.
  4. Cross-Curricular Integration: Key themes like Perception & Perspective, Growth & New Beginnings, and Movement & Change are explored through English, Maths, Science, PSHE, and project work—ensuring skills and values are reinforced through multiple modalities.
  5.
  6. Inclusive & Adaptive Practice: SEN strategies such as visual supports, routine, and sensory integration are built into the curriculum framework to ensure accessibility and consistent support for all learners.
  7.
  8. Empowering Transition: The curriculum culminates with preparation for the next stage of learning, promoting independence, reflection, and goal setting as learners transition into the next academic year or key stage.
